    VIDEO + FOTO Valtteri Bottas wins the Azerbaijan Grand Prix! Hamilton and Vettel completed the podium

    Finn Valtteri Bottas (29) won the Mercedes victory in Azerbaijan's Formula One Grand Prix and topped the overall standings.

    The race podium was completed by Lewis Hamilton , also from Mercedes, and Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari).

    Bottas finally admitted that the pressure of his teammate was hard to manage: "It was an extremely difficult race. Maybe not much has happened in the face, but I have always felt the pressure of Lewis Hamilton. I was relieved when I saw the flag that announced the end . "

  • VIDEO American collegiate championships feature foreign players

    Gulf Shores in Alabama hosts the women's American collegiate championships.
    Indianapolis, Ind., USA, April 28, 2019 - With seven of the eight participating schools featuring players from eight foreign countries, the American collegiate Women’s Beach Volleyball committee announced Sunday the eight-school field for the 2019 National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship.

    The collegiate championship will be held Friday through Sunday (May 3-5), in Gulf Shores, Ala. The event will be televised live by ESPN networks with live streaming coverage of every court throughout the tournament available on ESPN3.

    Selected from the 75 NCAA institutions sponsoring the sport of Beach Volleyball, the 2919 field Florida State, Louisiana State and Stetson from the east region, Pepperdine, Southern California and defending national champions UCLA from the west region and at-large selections Cal Poly and Hawai'i.

    Except for Louisiana State, the other eight schools list 20 foreign players on their roster led by 10 competitors on the Stetson roster, three at UCLA, two each at Hawai'i and Southern California and one each at Cal Poly, Florida State and Pepperdine.

    Led by 11 players from Canada, the seven countries represented on the rosters of NCAA Championship participants are Australia, Brazil, Chile, France, Italy, Latvia and Norway.

    Three of the participants in the NCAA Championships will be competing this June in the FIVB World Championships in Hamburg, Germany. Megan and Nicole McNamara from UCLA will be representing Canada in the world championships while Stacey Sponcil is scheduled to compete for the United States with Kelly Claes in Hamburg.

    In addition to the McNamaras, other top foreign players competing in the 2019 NCAA Championships will be Latvian Tina Graudina of Southern California and Norwegian Sunniva Helland-Hansen of Stetson and Canadian Emily Maglio of Hawai’i. Like the McNamaras, Graudina, Helland-Hansen and Maglio were recognized for their play this season by winning national player of the week honors.

    Coaches Todd Rogers of Cal Poly and Stein Metzger of UCLA are American Olympic participants and winners of gold medal on the FIVB World Tour. Florida State coach Brooke Niles is married to American standout Nick Lucena while Pepperdine coach Marcio Sicoli is from Brazil.
